The Area Community Credit Union has a rich heritage in the Greater Grand Forks area. We started as a Federally Charted Credit Union in 1958. We converted to a State Charted in December, 1964 with approximately $52,000 in assets. Initially, we were a Credit Union solely for the Grand Forks Public School employees. Over the years we have steadily grown along with the community.
On July 1, 1994 with $3.5 million in assets, we moved into our present building at 2800 South Washington Street. The Grand Forks Herald Credit Union merged with ACCU on April first, 1997 and we became a Community Chartered Credit Union, welcoming anyone (including all family members) living or working within a fifty mile radius of Grand Forks to become a member and to utilize the services of ACCU. Today we have approximately $20 million in assets, serving over 2,500 customers.

Debit Card migration begins September 15, 2022
The Area Community Credit Union Debit Card Managment system with be transferring to a new platform beginning September 15, 2022.
While there is nothing you, the member, need to do in this process, there may be a temporary disruption in service.

Economic Impact Stimulus Checks Update as of April 14, 2020
The Internal Revenue Service is expected to provide a new online tool as soon as Wednesday April 15, 2020 to provide details on when you'll see your Economic Impact Payment via IRS.gov/eip. The IRS has said the tool will let you go online to check the status of a payment, including the date it's scheduled to be deposited or mailed.
If you filed a 2018 or 2019 tax return and have not received a stimulus payment, make sure to have your tax return information available to use at the "Get My Payment" tool later this week (Week of April 14, 2020).
We appreciate our members wanting to know when these payments will be deposited in their accounts during this difficult time. However, Area Community Credit Union staff does not have knowledge as to exact dates that the Economic Impact payments will be deposited in accounts. We would ask that all inquiries been directed towards the IRS at IRS.gov/eip.
